Hava Tequila were perfect for the celebrations!
Alexander's Bar Mitzvah was held at Cecil Sharp House. It's a beautiful venue, with a lovely garden and it's also very conveniently located for us!
The atmosphere was relaxed and informal. We put up plenty of bunting to decorate the hall, and there were a lot of kids (24 out of 85 guests).
We found Hava Tequila on Function Central's site after searching online for Klezmer and unusual music in London. I immediately loved the look and sound of the band as soon as we found them.
We had drinks in the garden, which was lovely. The band played acoustically outside (this hadn't been planned but they were very accommodating!).
Hava Tequila were perfect for the celebrations – Klezmer music is so good for Jewish dancing. We also had a magician performing close magic tricks for when people weren't dancing.
We were so happy with Hava Tequila and had lots of comments about them. My father-in-law (not Jewish) also really liked the jazz connection. There was a lot of dancing and my younger son was inspired to spontaneously start a conga!
The highlights of the day were the speeches, dancing and a buffet dinner in the hall. It was all lovely. The speech by Alexander's two friends was wonderful too.
My advice to other people planning big events would be to organise the venue first (maybe even a year before), and then the band. Try not to get too stressed! Remember it will all work out fine on the day!
