The Caledonians

The Caledonians perform an intoxicating blend of traditional Scottish and Irish ceilidh dances and tunes with some English folk songs mixed in. Fiddle/pipes/vocals/guitar/cajon/loop pedal and flute/sax/caller, using a loop pedal with the guitar, cajon and fiddle to create live loops, so they can still create a full band sound with only two people and no backing tracks!

Time-honored tunes are given a contemporary twist thanks to their unusual instrumental line-up, which includes saxophone and flute alongside more traditional instruments such as the Scottish pipes and fiddle.

They can play a mixture of background music (instrumental or vocal) and lively, infectious dance tunes, which means they can cover everything from background music during a wedding ceremony or drinks reception, through to the evening entertainment. They also include a caller as part of the band, which makes the ceilidh songs easily accessible, not to mention great fun!

The duo are well-travelled and perform regularly all around Europe, where they are veterans of the folk festival circuit. As a result, they can call dances in French, Spanish or German if required, as well as English.

The Caledonians are an excellent choice for weddings, parties, corporate functions or any event where the aim is to get everyone dancing. If booked for the evening, the band can do an additional afternoon set too, if required.
