The Gatsby Girl

The Gatsby Girl is a songstress with a clear love of all things vintage. She specialises in the jazz, swing and big band era which spans from the 1910s to the 1960s. Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra are among her favourite artists to cover.

She also has a huge selection of popular wartime hits from WW1 and WW2 including songs made famous by The Andrews Sisters and Vera Lynn. Her stage set up - available with retro style microphone great sounding PA and her era-specific style of hair, make up and dress adds an authentic feel to her act.

The Gatsby Girl works with you to provide exactly what you want in terms of mood, type of set such as laid back or upbeat and even outfits/costumes (for themed events such as 1940s wartime or 1950s rock n roll or 1930s glamour). 1940’s style

Music was crucial to the war effort as it helped to boost morale and remind people that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. This means there is a wealth of songs to be covered from the era.

As a classically trained jazz and traditional pop singer, The Gatsby Girl has the perfect voice to sing this wide variety of songs as she has both the power needed to belt out the big band hits and the softer tones needed for those requiring a more emotive delivery. She can easily take an audience from a sentiment filled singalong of The White Cliffs of Dover into an upbeat big band classic like In The Mood.

She has put together an authentic 1940s tribute act covering songs popular during the wartime era.

This includes some of the more traditional British songs from Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields and George Formby, soldier songs that have become famous singalongs, and the more upbeat (and controversial) American big band and boogie woogie style made famous by Glenn Miller and The Andrews Sisters.

The Gatsby Girl's wartime tribute can be booked for public events, corporate events and private parties. Past bookings have included birthday parties, weddings, war weekends including Leyburn and Lytham which Claire Louise is confirmed to attend again in 2018, and public bookings to commemorate VE Day and Remembrance Day.

The 'Roaring Twenties' was a great point in musical history, what with Ragtime influences from the early 1900s merging with jazz to give us the Charleston craze of the era, and music coming from America to bring the Jazz Age to the UK!

With recent films such as The Great Gatsby, and TV shows such as Peaky Blinders, celebrating the music of the era, there has been a surge in popularity for music of this kind at all types of events.
