Our bands vary in size – smaller, guitar-based line-ups of three or four members usually perform rock, Britpop and indie, while larger bands with keys and brass section can recreate a wider range of genres through the decades. Our function bands have experience playing at a broad range of events and celebrations, from weddings to birthday parties, christenings to Bar Mitzvahs, pubs to festivals. They also provide live music for a variety of corporate functions from small office parties to blue-chip company balls. All our function bands will turn up ready to go with their own PA sound system and all the trimmings – microphones, backline amplifiers, instruments, they’ve got it sorted. In the case that you’re expecting more than 250 guests, just let us know so that we can double check that the band’s system is large enough for that size crowd. Most bands will also bring lighting for both the stage and dancefloor – but check on their individual profile for extra options to creating that proper party feel!
Our bands ask for a 60-90 minute window in order to set up and soundcheck their equipment. It’s ideal if your venue is free of guests at this point, although some bands are happy to do a noiseless ‘line check’ to test instruments and equipment instead of a full, front-of-house soundcheck, if you need them to keep the volume down.
Our bands know how to get the party started! Their performances are two hours and usually split over 2 x 1-hour or 3 x 40-minute sets with short intervals – but the band can play for less time, or longer (for an additional cost) if it suits your event better. If you need the band to play for longer or later than midnight, extra fees can apply.
Most function bands will be happy to learn and perform a request – provided they think they can arrange it for their line-up and do it justice! Check the band’s profile to see what they can offer and if they can’t do it live, they'll be happy to play it through their PA system from Spotify or an iPod.
All our function bands provide mp3 music during the interval, and many are able to upgrade to a more advanced service using virtual DJ software so that they can mix songs and take your guests’ requests.
The band will sort out most things from an equipment side, but they’ll need power to run it all! All you need to provide is access to a power source and a flat, sheltered performance space for the band to set up and perform from! As an easy rule, it’s best to allow for 3m x 3m for a 3-piece band – and then to add an additional square metre for each extra band member. A raised stage always helps the band stand out a bit more but, mainly, the performance space just needs to be flat and dry! If you’re unsure, check the ‘performance information’ on the band’s page.
Rockin’ out takes energy so please make that sure your performers have access to food and refreshments on the night – most of our function bands will require a hot meal to keep their energy up! Depending on the layout of the venue, some bands will also need reserved parking or a secure changing room so do check their profile for details if you can’t see it detailed on your booking contract.
