Jewish wedding band FAQs

What kind of Jewish wedding bands can you offer?

Our agency is proud to offer a diverse selection of Jewish wedding bands suitable for various tastes and preferences. We have authentic Klezmer bands, perfect for those looking for traditional Jewish music, which can add a unique and cultural touch to your wedding.

Additionally, we offer a large selection of party bands capable of performing a dedicated set of Jewish music alongside their standard party sets. This versatility ensures that we can cater to the specific needs of your Jewish wedding, providing music that ranges from traditional tunes to modern hits, all while keeping your Jewish heritage in focus.

What's a typical music schedule for a Jewish wedding?

A typical music schedule for a Jewish wedding might look like this:

  • Chuppah Ceremony: Soft, melodic music to create an intimate atmosphere as guests arrive and during the ceremony itself. This usually starts around the ceremony time.
  • Cocktail Hour: Background music as guests mingle and enjoy appetisers, usually for about an hour after the ceremony.
  • Hora and Simcha Set: High-energy music for the Hora dance, typically occurring at the beginning of the reception or right after the bridal party enters the reception area.
  • Dinner Music: Light music played during or between courses to maintain a festive yet relaxed atmosphere.
  • Party Sets: Two main party sets in the evening, each lasting about 60 minutes, with a break in between. These sets feature a mix of Jewish music and party favourites to keep guests dancing all night.

Can your musicians offer Chuppah ceremony music?

Yes, many of our party bands can also offer musicians to perform Chuppah music during the ceremony earlier in the day, such as a guitarist or pianist.

The musicians can perform as your guests arrive and during key moments of the ceremony, such as the processional (when the wedding party and the bride enter), the recitation of blessings, the exchange of rings, the Seven Blessings (Sheva Brachot), and the recessional.

Typical songs and pieces performed during the chuppah ceremony include:

  • "Erev Shel Shoshanim" (Evening of Roses) - often used during the processional.
  • "Dodi Li" (My Beloved is Mine, and I am His) - a popular choice for the entrance of the bride.
  • "Jerusalem of Gold" (Yerushalayim Shel Zahav) - occasionally included for its deep cultural and historical significance.
  • "Siman Tov u'Mazel Tov" - typically played towards the end of the ceremony to celebrate the newlyweds.

Can the band perform our Hora?

Yes, most of our party bands are well-equipped to perform high-energy Simcha sets for the Hora. They can play a variety of traditional and popular songs associated with Jewish celebrations, including "Hava Nagila," "Siman Tov u'Mazel Tov," "Ose Shalom," and more, ensuring a lively and memorable Hora dance at your wedding.

How long does a Jewish wedding band perform for?

Typically, a Jewish wedding band performs for two sets, each lasting about 60 minutes.

This setup allows for a dynamic and engaging entertainment experience, ensuring that there's ample time for all the traditional celebrations, as well as modern party music to keep your guests entertained throughout the evening.

When will the band arrive and start playing?

Our bands usually arrive around 6pm to set up and sound check, ensuring everything is ready for a seamless performance.

They are typically ready to start their sets from about 7pm onwards, aligning with the flow of your wedding reception and any specific schedules or requirements you may have.

Do I need to provide anything for the band?

Generally, bands will require a performance space, access to power outlets, and possibly a stage, depending on the size of the band and the venue.

It's also appreciated to provide meals and refreshments for the band members, especially if they are with you for the whole evening. Any specific technical requirements or rider details will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.

Are all your Jewish wedding bands based in London?

While most of our Jewish wedding bands are based in London, we also represent top-quality bands in Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, and Birmingham.

How far in advance should I book my Jewish wedding band?

We recommend booking your Jewish wedding band as early as possible, ideally 6-12 months in advance of your wedding date. This allows you to secure your preferred band and avoid any availability issues, especially during peak wedding seasons when bands are in high demand.

Do I need to book one of your wedding DJs as well?

While booking one of our wedding DJs is an option, it's not necessarily required. Many of our bands offer their own DJ service, capable of providing continuous music during breaks or after their live sets have concluded. This can be a convenient and cost-effective solution, ensuring a seamless musical experience throughout your event.

What happens if the band can't make it on the day?

In the unlikely event that the band you've booked can't make it on your wedding day, our agency has measures in place to ensure your entertainment is not compromised.

We have a wide network of professional bands and musicians and will work diligently to find a suitable replacement that matches the quality and style of the original band booked.

Your satisfaction and the success of your event are our top priorities, and we're committed to providing high-quality alternatives in any unforeseen circumstances.
